Bob and Dan Shaut have over 50 years of combined experience as music educators. Education projects include lessons, masterclasses, workshops, consultations, the Hudson Valley youth Jazz Orchestra and sheet music publishing.
lessons
Saxophone lessons are available in both classical and jazz idioms.
Students have been selected to the NYSSMA All-State Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble, NYSBDA All-State High School Band, Middle School Band and Jazz Band, Area-All State Symphonic Band, All-County Bands and Jazz Ensembles from Ulster, Dutchess, Greene.
Students have gone on to pursue music at schools including: Eastman School of Music, Ithaca College, New School of Music, University of Maryland, SUNY Purchase, Berklee School of Music, SUNY Fredonia, College of St. Rose, NYU and SUNY Oneonta.
The Hudson Valley Youth Jazz Orchestra provides educational and performance opportunties for students of all ages and ability levels.

HVyJO's 2015 Summer Jazz Program featured saxophonist and Director of Jazz Studies at University of Maryland - Chris Vadala (2 Grammys, 2 Emmys, and one Golden Globe.)
HVYJO 's 2014 summer included a workshop with Columbia University's Chris Washburne (sponsored by the Catskill Jazz Factory) and culminated with a performance featuring Down Beat Magazine's top baritone saxophonist and Grammy Award winning musician Gary Smulyan.
From 2002-2005 HVyJO consisted of two large jazz bands made up of students from nine school districts. The bands performed at local concerts, WAMC and at the Belleayre Music Festival opening up for Peter Cincotti, Michel Camillo, Jane Mondheit and Chick Corea.

Masterclasses, workshops and consultations are available on saxophone, jazz (theory, history, improvisation, arranging) and developing school jazz programs. These can be customized to fit your needs and can be paired with a performance.
sheet music for educators
Bob Shaut has been writing for school groups for over 30 years. He has composed music for jazz ensemble, concert band, marching band, saxophone quartet and saxophone ensemble.
